Surf’s up at Virgin Active this summer!

Virgin Active Health Clubs has teamed up with Roxy, to bring the UK the ultimate beach body workout. The workout focuses on four components of strength, balance, flexibility and power which are all fundamental to the ‘pop up’ move (from the paddling position to the upright position) that is used in surfing. Created by Virgin Active’s fitness experts, the Roxy Beach Body Workout will condition surfers’ and non-surfers’ bodies alike, ready to hit the waves.

The techniques employed in the workout are effective in conditioning any beach body hence Virgin Active has introduced the Roxy Beach Body Workout into all 71 of their clubs nationwide to encourage even the most novice of beach goers to prepare for the summer.

The workout created exclusively for Roxy by Virgin Active is made up of a 3 elements; warm-up, circuits and yoga. The Roxy Beach Body Workout will create the ultimate summer vibe in Virgin Active, setting the tone for the sunny season. The session will use music synonymous with long summer days in Ibiza, sending floods of glowing memories, with songs such as 9pm (til I come), Sandstorm and Pjanooo.

The main workout, unique to Virgin Active, is made up of drills, aerobic routines and equipment based circuits. Each session, led by Virgin Active fitness coaches for small groups of people, will be made up of a different combination of elements to ensure variety and maintain interest.

A unique element of yoga has been included into the workout to allow for relaxation and wind down. Chill-out tracks such as Rapture (Soulside remix) and Silence (Michael Woods remix) provide the ultimate summer ambiance for the final section of the Roxy Beach Body Workout session.
