Roadtrip | The Euro Spring Fling pt.7

Euro Spring Fling

So Nadine and Polly had already been out tearing up Euro land for over a month, hitting the end of season parties in Morzine, and sunning themselves in Biarritz.  I however had been at home in the UK making the most of our bank holiday sunshine,  sunning myself on the Cornish coast, and enjoying all the best things about home.  But it wasn’t long till the call of the wild times swept me away, and I found myself on a plane to the South of France to hook up with the Euro Spring Fling fun bus.

I arrived to find warm weather and two of my best mates looking super tanned and happy.  Having got packing down to a fine art by now, it wasn’t too hard to fit me into Polly’s stuffed car (also known as RamRod).  The girls took me on a drive through town, and gave me a very personalized tour.  We stopped at the beach and spent the rest of the afternoon catching up in the baking sunshine.

Although the girls were sleeping in the car at night, they had a special deal with a local campsite enabling us to use their facilities to get ourselves fresh and clean.  Biarritz is a beautiful french coastal town, and we wandered the streets before settling on a lovely little restaurant.  Luckily we somehow blagged the only outdoor table sheltered by a massive umbrella, so thankfully when the thunder and lighting downpour started, we were the only ones on the terrace undisturbed.

Girlylegs RoadtripSleeping in the back of the estate car was surprisingly comfortable, and we woke up early and transferred our horizontal position to the nearest patch of sand.  We proceeded to work on our tanlines until late afternoon, when after packing up the car, we headed south out of Biarritz, to the Spanish coastal town of San Sebastien in search of Sangria and Tapas.  The old town of San Sebastien is a maze of small streets and tall buildings lined with bars, all covered in an amazing array of tapas treats.  We also discovered red wine is almost cheaper than water, so proceeded to consume rouge and finger food at an alarming rate!  Full and sleepy, we spent another evening curled up together in the back of the Bimmer.

Early the next morning we hit the road again, this time our destination was a solid 14 hours of driving across a variety of countries.  We tore up through France, and into Switzerland, before calling it a night at a service station not far from the Austrian border.

As with any road trip, music had played a big part in the Euro Spring Fling tour, and I was introduced to the soundtrack to the trip so far. The fantastically cheesy LFMAO – YES and MANN – BUZZIN will always remind me of our epic journeys in Ram!
