16 year old Sissy Herant has been making a big name for herself in the UK Ski scene over the past few years and last year won two podium spots at the BRITS, coming 2nd overall in Slopestyle and Big Air.  

With this winter season already in swing, we caught up with Sissy for a quick gossip and to find out what she is up to.

What made you first pick up a pair of skis?

When I was about 11 years old my brother was going on a ski trip so we both went and had ski lessons.

How long have you been riding and when did you start doing competitions?

I have been skiing for about 5 years now (3 and a half years freestyle) I started competing about 3 years ago. My first competition was at Chill Factor, I was so scared!

Did you find it hard to get started?
Learning to ski was pretty hard, but got it all over and done with and then straight onto freestyle!

Do you ride at any of the UK snow-domes? If so where can we expect to find you?

I ski at Chill Factore alot, but if I’m hitting any of the dry slopes the nearest one to me is Stoke Ski Centre

What are your season plans? You attending any competitions, if so which ones?

I am going to try and get to as many competitions as possible, starting with going away to Morzine and then finishing with Junior Worlds.

Last new trick you learned and any new tricks in the pipeline?

I recently learnt misty 720′s and cork 540′s. I am hoping to get grabs in both so that I can take the tricks and push myself to do them off bigger kickers.

Any team trips or other cool things you are super stoked about this season?

Super stoked about going out to America for 2 weeks! And looking forward to doing some Europa Cups!

What kit are you rocking?

I am currently skiing on Armada ARW’s size 166. I am sponsored by Armada skis, Dragon goggles, Chill Factore and Ski Bartlett.

Who are your role models?

Major role model probably Ashley Battersby, she has one of the nicest styles I have seen from a girl skier!

What other UK girls have you been shredding with recently?

I have been skiing with Rowan Cheshire and Katie Summerhayes at some of the UK camps, but mostly skiing with Michelle Jones who has been pushing me to get all my tricks nailed.

Kickers, rails or pipe?

It used to be rails 100% but I think I am torn between rails and kicker. If I had to choose I reckon I would go for kickers.
