Snowboard | Having A Chat With Katie Blundell

The lovely UK Snowboarder Katie Blundell has been signed to O’Neill, and we decided to have a catch up natter with the little lady herself!

Hey Katie,

Hello!

How is it being back in Devon after your season in Oz?

I love being back in Devon. The more I travel, the more I appreciate time at home. I have some amazing friends and family here and I love catching up with them. It’s also lush to be near the sea again, even though it’s not exactly beach weather right now, just knowing its close makes me feel good!! Leaving OZ was sad though, it does feel like a second home!

So like the rest of the snowboarding creme de la creme, you were at Battersea for the Freeze Festival, what were the highlights for you?

My lovely friend Cherrie Spalding aka CHEZZA, picked me up from the train station with a huge tray of brownies, that was a huge highlight for me!!! Watching Lipstick Productions “5 More Minutes Please” was awesome, really inspirational. Watching the riding, meeting my new sponsors O’Neill, chatting to Jenny Jones (i’m pro-hoe I know!!!). But the best part was just hanging out with all my friends, some of whom I hadn’t seen for ages!!!

What are your plans for this winter then? We know your going to be making a stop over at The Girlylegs HQ in Mayrhofen which we are real excited about.

Errr lots of plans and things in the pipe line, but nothing is actually arranged yet so I need to start doing that!! I want to film lots, ride some street, try some of the comps (eeeeek!!), travel and ride in new places with good friends! Although I know this is a lot to fit into one season, I’m going to try my best! Also have a Ride Team trip planned to France early December, should be rad, and probably a little messy if Helen Fox has anything to do with it!!! But very excited about my sleep over in the Girlylegs HQ in Mayrhofen ;-)

What competitions can we except to see you at and any new tricks up your sleeve?

I would like to do some of the Euro comps if I can. I have this thing though, that if I say I’m going to do a competition or register too early, then I jinx myself!! So I have to be careful and just wait and see! And new tricks?? There are so many tricks I would love to try and learn, but would definitely like to focus on my kicker riding and my street riding this season and progress as much as I can. Would quite like to have a lot of fun too!

Any thing else you want to say?

Thank you for talking to me!! See you in Mayrhofen!
