This weekend Fistral Beach, Newquay played host to the British Surfing Championships. The surf was pumping, the crowd was amped and the surfers were ready to throw down on the 2 to 8ft waves! All the junior divisions stepped up and with youth on their side they showed they had more than enough style and energy to take on the swell.
The under 14 girls title was taken by one to watch and Gul team rider Flora Lawton, who finished ahead of friend Peony Knight. In the under 18s girls competition Tassy Swallow took the title, yet another great result for the St Ives local. Sarah Beardmore kept her British Surfing Championship title for the second year in a row, with Hannah Harding closing in behind her in second place.
Congratulations to everyone who made it into the water and of course onto the podium. Its great to see that the love of surfing British waters won out over all the politics.
