When she was just a kid, Katie Summerhayes burst onto the UK freeski scene and people were blown away with her skills and enthusiasm.  Now 16, Katie has already competed in the European X-Games this last March and has hope for a gold medal one day. We thought it was about time we had a chat with the lady herself…

How long have you been riding and when did you start doing competitions?

It will be coming up soon that I have been riding 10 years, I first did freestyle when I was 8 years old and did my first competition when I was 9 years old. I have loved competing ever since and I always like progressing and I love the nerves when competing!

What are your season plans?

Plans for this season are too keep up with school as well as getting away on snow as much as possible!

Any new tricks in the bag?

Just been working on lots of different things over this summer and the last couple of weeks is just to make everything else is so much neater and tidier. That was my main goal this summer!

What skis are your riding? Who are your sponsors?

Who are your role models?

My roles models are definitely James Woods and Pat Sharples. Woodsy just for being stylish and doing so well this season and he was the one who got my into freestyle when I was younger. Pat for just being so good over these
last couple years and also everything that he has done on the Salomon Grom Camps and for the British Freeski scene.
